The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a beautiful gift of the Church for those who are facing serious illness, preparing for surgery, or experiencing the weakness of age. Through the anointing with holy oil and the prayers of the priest, Christ himself offers strength, peace, and healing for body and soul.

This sacrament unites the sick person more closely to the suffering of Christ, forgives sins, and gives comfort in times of trial. It may be received more than once, whenever someone’s health changes significantly.
