The Story of All Saints Roman Catholic Parish

All Saints Roman Catholic Parish in Lethbridge, Alberta, is a vibrant and welcoming community of faith with a rich and evolving history. Our parish stands as a testament to the dedication, resilience, and unity of generations of Catholics who have worshipped and served in this city for over a century.

Our Roots: A Legacy of Faith

The Catholic Church has had a strong presence in Lethbridge since the late 1800s. One of the earliest spiritual homes for local Catholics was St. Patrick’s Church, consecrated in 1895—the first Catholic church in the city. For decades, it served as a central place of worship, especially beloved by many immigrant families who helped build up the faith community in Lethbridge.

Other churches, including Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Basil’s, were later established to meet the needs of the growing and geographically diverse Catholic population. These churches played essential roles in the lives of thousands of parishioners, offering Mass, sacraments, and pastoral care to families across the city.

Coming Together as One

By the early 2000s, with shifting demographics and evolving pastoral needs, the local Catholic community recognized the opportunity to unify and collaborate more closely. In 2001, Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Patrick’s parishes were combined, followed by the addition of St. Basil’s in 2006. This process brought together three vibrant faith communities under one parish name: All Saints Roman Catholic Parish.

The goal of this unification was to strengthen our mission, enhance pastoral outreach, and ensure the long-term vitality of Catholic life in Lethbridge. Through shared resources, coordinated ministries, and united worship, All Saints Parish has grown into a dynamic spiritual family rooted in communion and service.

A Living Parish

Today, All Saints Parish is proud to celebrate the richness of its heritage while continuing to grow in faith and love. Masses, sacraments, and parish ministries are celebrated and supported at Our Lady of the Assumption Church (on 12th Avenue South) and St. Basil’s Church (on 13th Street North). In addition, we are blessed to hold Mass at St. Patrick’s Church every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, as part of our "Our Lady’s Saturday" devotions—a beautiful tradition that honors Our Blessed Mother and connects us to the deep roots of Catholic faith in Lethbridge.

These sacred spaces continue to nourish the spiritual lives of people from all walks of life, offering a place of prayer, reflection, and community.

Our parish offers a full range of ministries: sacramental preparation, youth and adult faith formation, community outreach, and pastoral care. We are committed to walking with individuals and families through every stage of life, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose in Christ.
