All Saints Parish Annual

Corpus Christi Procession

June 7, 2026

For many years our Parish has participated in an annual procession of the Holy Eucharist on Corpus Christi Sunday.  These processions for Corpus Christi originated in Germany around 1275. By 1350, as the feast had become a universal practice, so too had the processions, during which a cleric carries a consecrated host in a Eucharistic vessel, often covered by a canopy, with the faithful following.

“let us celebrate with particular devotion the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, with its traditional procession. Our faith in the God who took flesh in order to become our companion along the way needs to be everywhere proclaimed, especially in our streets and homes, as an expression of our grateful love and as an inexhaustible source of blessings”

Pope St. John Paul II 2005 Apostolic Letter Mane Nobiscum Domine

Anyone is welcome to join at any point.  Strollers and mobility aids are welcome.   As we will be in the presents of the Holy Eucharist during the walk we are encouraging everyone joining us to be reverent and respectful by singing or praying the rosary. This has always been spontaneous rather than organized.

Children are welcome and need to be accompanied by an adult.  First Communicants are encouraged to wear their special clothing.  Conformation Students are also encouraged to join us with their families.

Your group is welcome to carry a banner if you wish (remember that we walk on the sidewalk when considering size) and walk as a group including your family members. Anyone wishing to help carry the platform that is carrying the Monstrance is welcome to do so.  We will be trading off throughout the walk.

It is suggested that we wear white, or red (second choice) which represents the Body or the Blood of Christ.  Knights of Columbus are invited to wear their jackets and CWL their sashes.  School students are invited to wear any clothing that represents their CATHOLIC schools.

Limousines will accompany each procession route for anyone requiring a ride.  They will also provide transportation from CCH for those who have walked to return to their vehicles.  Martin Brothers and Cornerstone Funeral Homes generously donate these vehicles and drivers.  These vehicles will have water available for anyone who may need it along the way.  We will have a person with First Aid walking in each procession if they should be needed.

After Benediction, a light lunch of Hot Dogs, veggies, condiments, sweets  and drinks  (juice, coffee, tea, water) will be provided.

We will have processions from each church beginning about 12 noon and will be walking to CCH east campus. Along the each route will be a  prayer stop.  At CCH there will be Benediction followed by our spring lunch social.

This will be the same route we have taken in the past.

We encourage all to participate in all or any part of the celebration.

  • Pray at home if you cannot join us.

  • Attend 11:00 am Mass  at St. Basil’s  or 11:45 Prayer Service at Our Lady of the Assumption

  • Join us at CCH at approximately 1:00 pm for Benediction (come to the patio behind the school or enter on 18th St. S) You may want to bring a chair if coming early.
