CELEBRATE our GIFT of the EUCHARIST
June 2, 2024
- WALK the streets WITH JESUS. . .
June 2, 2024
“let us celebrate with particular devotion the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, with its traditional procession. Our faith in the God who took flesh in order to become our companion along the way needs to be everywhere proclaimed, especially in our streets and homes, as an expression of our grateful love and as an inexhaustible source of blessings”
Pope St. John Paul II 2005 Apostolic Letter Mane Nobiscum Domine
Our annual procession of the Blessed Sacrament on Corpus Christi Sunday will be celebrated on SUNDAY, JUNE 2, 2024. We will have processions from each church beginning about 12noon and will be walking to CCH east campus. along the each route will be a prayer stop. At CCH there will be Benediction followed by our spring lunch social. This will be the same route we have taken in the past.
We encourage all to participate in all or any part of the celebration.
Anyone is welcome to join at any point. Strollers and mobility aids are welcome. As we will be in the presents of the Holy Eucharist during the walk we are encouraging everyone joining us to be reverent and respectful by singing or praying the rosary. This has always been spontaneous rather than organized.
Children are welcome and need to be accompanied by an adult. First Communicants are encouraged to wear their special clothing. Confirmation Students are also encouraged to join us with their families.
Your group is welcome to carry a banner if you wish (remember that we walk on the sidewalk when considering size) and walk as a group including your family members. Anyone wishing to help carry the platform that is carrying the Monstrance is welcome to do so. We will be trading off throughout the walk.
It is suggested that we wear white, or red (second choice) which represents the Body or the Blood of Christ. Knights of Columbus are invited to wear their jackets and CWL their sashes. School students are invited to wear any clothing that represents their CATHOLIC schools.
Limousines will accompany each procession route for anyone requiring a ride. They will also provide transportation from CCH for those who have walked to return to their vehicles. Martin Brothers and Cornerstone Funeral Homes generously donate these vehicles and drivers. These vehicles will have water available for anyone who may need it along the way. We will have a person with First Aid walking in each procession if they should be needed.
After Benediction, a light lunch of buns w/meat, Hot Dogs for the children, veggies, condiments, sweets and drinks (juice, coffee, tea, water) will be provided. We will also have activates outside for the children.
